A New Connection to Germany with STULZ Air Technology System

Frederick’s Oktoberfest has a lot of German inspiration. From the German music in the Fest Hall and the German Heritage Tent offering genealogy seminars, to the German beer and food, the event is full of ways to connect you to the festival in Munich (which is also happening this week). Yet, this is not the extent of our connections to Germany. New this year, a company founded in Germany became a sponsor our event – STULZ Air Technology Systems! With their North American headquarters located right here in Frederick, STULZ is the world’s leading solutions provider of energy efficient temperature and humidity management technology, specifically for mission critical applications and data centers.

The company’s German roots date back to the 1950’s, when Germany was experiencing an economic upturn. Its first product was a Piccolo housekeeping system that encompassed a vacuum cleaner, floor-polishing brush, and blender in a single appliance. From there, STULZ continued to expand its work in the areas of plastics processing and precision air-conditioning systems.

Fast-forward to the 1980s when STULZ landed in Frederick and STULZ America was born. In 2001, STULZ expanded its U.S. presence further by purchased a local air conditioning manufacturer, becoming what is now known as STULZ Air Technology Systems (STULZ USA). In 2019, STULZ employees over 400 people in Frederick, and occupies over 218,000 square feet of space.

Frederick’s Oktoberfest is thrilled to have a German-inspired, Frederick-thriving business as part of our event this year. Bonus: STULZ will be hosting a tent at the festival. We invite you to stop by and learn more!
